Our History
1957
Founder Joseph Belli & family opens its first butcher shop in little Italy Toronto, Canada.
1972
The Belli Family opens its 12th retail outlet under Mariposa Group.
1982
Operations transition production lines to fully cooked proteins in the retail and foodservice markets.
1995
Expansion into Mississauga, Ontario CFIA processing facility processing all major proteins beef, pork, chicken & turkey.
2010
New Freshouse Expansion into Bradford, Ontario with 125,000 sq. ft. CFIA facility.
2019
Freshouse builds Georgetown, Ontario, one of North America’s largest custom cooking facilities.
2021
Freshouse expands with vertical integration across all major proteins implementing in-house whole carcass utilization to reduce costs and deliver greater value to loyal customers.
2022
Freshouse expands with the largest industrial conveyor custom cooking lines in Canada.
Freshouse becomes Canada’s largest fully cooked meatball manufacturer.
Freshouse becomes Canada’s largest shelf-stable meat protein snack manufacturer.
2023
In support of animal welfare, Freshouse introduces the first gestation-free and crate-free pork products to the Canadian market.
2024
Freshouse becomes Canada’s largest private label bacon manufacturer.
2025
Freshouse expands cold storage distribution facilities, adding 110,000 sq. ft.
